FF was a 63 year old  immigrant from Columbia who was employed as a trainer at a local boxing gym. Unfortunately, FF's 18 year old step-granddaughter accused him of forcing himself on her. Accordingly, FF was arrested and charged with Sexual Assault. FF had never been in trouble before and denied that he had sexually assaulted his step-granddaughter.

Through our investigation, we were able to discover that the alleged victim was an undocumented immigrant who had applied for a U Visa based on her claim that she was a victim of a crime. Armed with this information, on cross-examination we were able to show that the alleged victim had a lot to gain (the ability to remain in the U.S. and to seek lawful permanent resident status) by making this rape allegation against FF. This information proved to be enough for the jury to have doubts about the alleged victim's claims and fortunately they found FF Not Guilty on all charges. FF quickly returned home to his wife and to his position as a boxing coach.
