SD was in a relationship and living with a woman who had a 21 year old son. The 21 year old son did not approve of the way that SD was treating his mother so he aggressively confronted SD as he walked in the door from work. SD, who feared for his safety, produced a pocket knife and stabbed his girlfriend's son once in the stomach. The 21 year old was rushed to the hospital where he underwent emergency surgery to repair damage to his intestines. SD was arrested on scene and taken to jail. SD maintained that he was acting in self-defense and, at trial, the jury agreed with him and found him Not Guilty.
